Baby Bear Trio! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

I know, I know..... more bears. This is the last of my bear designs. I just needed to make a design with three baby bears playing in the woods. They could be playing peek a boo, or hiding from their mama. Last year when I saw this trio, they were crossing the road hubby and I were taking to go home from a vacation at the lake in Northern Minnesota. We saw mama bear cross the road first and then her babies, one by one. I was so excited I couldn't hold onto my phone right to take a ...

Papa Bear from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Many of you know that I am in love with bears. I saw another bear just recently when hubby and I were on a trip up north in July. We were driving home on a rural road after visiting a shop that sold wild rice. I always try to pick up a pound or two when ever we are in Northern Minnesota. The bear was quite some distance away, but still a thrill to see! He had disappeared back into the woods by the time we were close enough to see him. While doodling the other day, I came up ...

Star Gazing at the Cabin from Quilt Doodle Doodles

I have an idea! I think it's a wonderful notion... let me tell you all about it. Remember last year I showed you my Snowman Snow Globe panel and I wrote the 'Star Gazing' pattern. It's a super easy quilt to piece together using a Rail Fence block and some applique snowflakes.

What if you substituted the Lumberjack Primo Plaids for the blues and used the Woodland Getaway panel? I think it would make for a wonderful winter themed quilt.
What do you think? I'm thinking I need to make one! Here's how I would go ...

Cabin Life from Quilt Doodle Doodles

As you all know, I love my Lumberjack Primo Plaids, love, love, love the colors and have been having fun stitching with them. They are my go to colors, the colors that I love to work with. I have designed a new pattern to go with the Woodland Getaway Panel using these soft, yummy fabrics, Cabin Life. My inspiration comes from all the vacations we've taken up north to go fishing. There's always a morning or two that we wake up freezing and this will be the perfect quilt to pack along for our next trip. I usually ...

Embroidery 101-5 from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Welcome to my fifth installment showcasing different embroidery stitches. Today I’m going to show you a threaded running stitch and a variation on a buttonhole stitch. I used them both on my Woodland Getaway panel but I think you could also experiment with these stitches on my other panels too. I’m using a #12 pearl cotton from Valdani thread for my stitching.

I used this variation on the wheel of the camper. I thought it would be a fun stitch to color in the tire... let me show you how easy this stitch is...
To start, bring your ...

Let’s Toast Marshmallows! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

I hope that you all had a relaxing weekend last week. I spent some time in my sewing room over the weekend and worked on a project that I’ve had planned in my head for awhile. I finally got it all written down on paper and made it. I’ve been spending the last few weeks showing you how I’ve been embroidering my Woodland getaway panel so today let me show you how I used those elements to make my banner/table runner. The complete pattern for this banner can be found on my website and in my ...

Sleeping Under the Stars from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

I just love the added designs on my Woodland Getaway panel and making mug rugs is a quick and easy project. The camper and tent design would make great mug rugs. As you can see in the photo that I have embroidered sections of the panel. I’m going to use the camper section for today’s project. I’m saving the tent and words sections for a special project, can’t wait to show you! But for today I’m making an adorable mug rug, the directions are below... you don’t have to embroider the panel, it can ...

I hope that you are having fun experimenting with different embroidery stitches. Today I’m going to show you a couple of stitch techniques that can be used to color in large spaces with stitches. It’s a great way to add texture and detail to your panel. Today I am working on my Woodland getaway panel from Marcus Fabrics.
I will be stitching on the tent and camper sections of the panel. If you are doing the Woodland Getaway BOM then these are extra pieces that you can have fun and experiment with. I will being showing you how ...

Embroidery 101-2 from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Let me recap what I've talked about so far.... I like to use Valdani Pearl Cotton. I use the #12 and #8 weight typically. I also have a healthy collection of DMC floss. When I embroider I use 3 strands to stitch with. I line my panels with a fusible interfacing and then I machine stitch around the edges. I like to use an embroidery hoop but I've been known to stitch without one! (yes, I break rules even in the embroidery world....) I love my Ott Lite, especially if I'm doing my stitching at night in ...

Woodland Getaway from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

I'm in love with these beautiful warm tones, these are very often my go to colors when I make a quilt for myself so when Marcus Fabrics asked me to pick out colors for a new line of Primo Plaids I knew exactly what colors I was going to pick. They are rich and warm and a delight to work with. This line of Primo Plaids is called Lumber Jack and I'm head over heels in love with them. These wonderful fabrics is available for quilt shops to order now so keep your eye out for them! I ...
